Police Arrest Driver for Murder of Clergyman Boss

The Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP Ikioye Orutugu, has announced the arrest of a domestic staff member allegedly involved in the gruesome murder of his employer, a Pentecostal Bishop of End-reconciliation Ministry in Asaba, Delta State. The suspect was also involved in the subsequent attempt to dispose of the victim’s Toyota Prado Jeep in Nkpor, Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State.

Arrest of the Suspect

The Anambra State Police Command has arrested a domestic staff suspected of murdering a Pentecostal Bishop based in Asaba, Delta State, and attempting to sell his Toyota Prado SUV. The suspect, who served as a driver and staff to the victim—a Bishop with the End-Reconciliation Ministry, Asaba—was apprehended by operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), Awkuzu, following an intelligence-led operation.

Preliminary Investigations

Preliminary investigations reveal that the suspect allegedly conspired with accomplices to kill the cleric before fleeing to Nkpor, Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State to dispose of the vehicle. Confirming the incident, the command’s spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, stated that acting on credible intelligence, police intercepted the suspect and another individual alleged to be the buyer of the stolen vehicle in Nkpor.

Recovery of the Vehicle

"The stolen Prado Jeep has been recovered, and the suspects are in custody for further interrogation," Ikenga said. He stated that investigations are ongoing to apprehend other members of the criminal gang involved in the incident and fully unravel the circumstances surrounding the unfortunate murder.

Advice from the Commissioner

Meanwhile, CP Orutugu has advised residents to exercise due diligence in the recruitment and management of domestic staff, drivers, and other household employees. He urged members of the public to properly profile and verify the identities of persons employed in their homes and establishments, while also remaining vigilant to suspicious behaviours and activities.
