A large crowd of protesters, led by popular social commentator and human rights activist Vincent Otse, stormed the private residence of Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde in Ibadan on Tuesday. They demanded urgent action for the release of pupils and teachers abducted in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.
Protest Route and Demands
The protesters began their march from Iwo Road, moving through major parts of the city while chanting solidarity songs and carrying placards with various inscriptions. They called for intensified efforts from the government and security agencies to secure the immediate release of the victims. Concerns have grown over the continued captivity of the abducted schoolchildren and their teachers.
Governor Makinde Addresses the Crowd
The protest, still ongoing at the governor's residence in Ikolaba, drew the attention of residents. Governor Makinde came out to address the crowd, assuring them that security agencies are actively working on the situation. He reaffirmed his administration's commitment to ensuring the safe rescue of the abducted victims.
