A devastating lone auto crash occurred on Easter Sunday night along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in Ogun State, resulting in the deaths of four individuals and injuries to eight others. The incident took place in front of Christopher University, involving a White Toyota Hiace bus with registration number AGL789YL.

According to the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) spokesperson, Afolabi Odunsi, the crash happened at approximately 9:18 p.m. on Easter Sunday. Odunsi confirmed that 13 people were involved in the accident, comprising 11 adult males and two adult females. Of these, eight individuals—seven males and one female—sustained injuries, while four others died on the spot.
The FRSC attributed the tragedy to a combination of a tyre burst and speed violation, which caused the driver to lose control of the vehicle. In a statement issued in Abeokuta, Odunsi provided these details, emphasizing the severity of the incident.
Response and Rescue Efforts
Following the crash, emergency services swiftly responded. The injured victims were transported to Famobis Hospital at Loto-Mowe for urgent medical attention. Meanwhile, the remains of the deceased were deposited at Idera Morgue for further procedures.
The Motor Traffic Division (MTD) of the Redeemed Police Station took custody of the crashed vehicle, along with all recovered property and luggage belonging to the passengers. This action was taken for safekeeping and to facilitate further investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident.

Sector Commander Akinwunmi Fasakin expressed heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased. Akinbiyi attributed the lone crash to excessive speed on the part of the Toyota Hiace bus driver. He noted that four people died and eight individuals—six males and two females—were injured, with slight variations in the injury count compared to the FRSC report.
Coordinated Rescue Mission
Akinbiyi detailed that officers from TRACE, the FRSC, the Nigeria Police, and the Ogun State Ambulance and Emergency Services (OGSAES) were on the ground for the rescue mission. The four presumed dead bodies were taken to the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital (OOUTH) Morgue in Sagamu, while the injured victims received medical attention at Famobis Hospital, as previously mentioned.
