Four Killed in Ogun as Bus Crashes into Stationary Truck Due to Speed Violation
A tragic road accident on the Ijebu East axis of Ogun State has resulted in the confirmed deaths of four individuals, following a collision between a bus and a stationary truck. The incident, which occurred late at night, has been attributed to excessive speed by the bus driver, according to official reports from the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC).
Details of the Collision
The crash took place at approximately 11:16 p.m., involving a white Toyota Hiace bus with registration number BDJ 482 XC and a blue MAN Diesel truck bearing registration number RSH 969 XC, which is owned by Julius Berger. Preliminary investigations reveal that the truck was being towed when the towing chain snapped, leaving it immobile on the road. A speeding Toyota Hiace bus subsequently collided with the stationary truck, leading to the fatal outcome.
Following the impact, the driver of the towing vehicle reportedly fled the scene, abandoning the truck. The Public Relations Officer of the FRSC Ogun Sector Command, Odunsi Afolabi, confirmed the incident, stating that all occupants of the bus sustained fatal injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene.

In his remarks, Afolabi emphasized that the crash was caused by speed violation, noting, "Regrettably, all four persons involved in the crash—two male adults and two female adults—sustained fatal injuries and were confirmed dead at the scene." He added that the FRSC rescue team arrived at the scene within eight minutes of being alerted, demonstrating a swift response to the emergency.
The victims' bodies have been evacuated and deposited at the State Hospital Mortuary in Ijebu Ode, while the Nigerian Police Force (NPF), Imushin Division, has taken custody of the vehicles and initiated further investigations into the circumstances surrounding the accident.

Reacting to the incident, the Sector Commander, Corps Commander Akinwunmi Fasakin, issued a stern warning to motorists.
