Boko Haram insurgents have launched a deadly attack on a military formation at Mandara-Girau in Biu Local Government Area of Borno State, resulting in the deaths of multiple soldiers. The location is situated just a few kilometers from Biu town.

Attack Details

According to security sources, the assailants stormed the military position in the early hours of Friday, June 5, opening fire on troops amid heavy rainfall. A source reported that the terrorists arrived in overwhelming numbers, catching the soldiers off guard and inflicting heavy casualties.

"They killed nine soldiers and injured several others, and they were all beheaded," the source disclosed. The source further stated that part of the military formation was overrun by the suspected Boko Haram fighters.

Evidence of the Attack

In a video clip obtained by journalists, the bodies of eight soldiers were seen covered with blankets on the ground. As of now, the military has not released an official statement regarding the incident.
