Lakurawa Terrorists Kill Customs Officer in Kebbi Raid

In a devastating security breach, Lakurawa terrorists launched a brutal attack on a Nigeria Customs Service outpost in Maje, Bagudo Local Government Area of Kebbi State, resulting in the death of an officer and complete destruction of the facility.

Deadly Night Assault on Customs Base

The attack occurred on Friday night when heavily armed members of the Lakurawa terrorist group stormed the Customs camp in large numbers. According to local residents, the assailants arrived suddenly and began shooting indiscriminately before setting the entire facility ablaze.

One Customs officer lost his life during the violent onslaught, while the terrorists completely destroyed the outpost, leaving it in ruins. The camp, which served as a strategic security point in the region, was overwhelmed by the superior firepower and numbers of the attacking force.

Official Confirmation and Medical Verification

The Kebbi Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service has acknowledged the incident through its Public Relations Officer, Muhammad Tajudeen. While confirming the attack occurred, officials are awaiting medical confirmation regarding the officer's status.

"The attack actually happened but only the doctors can confirm if the officer is dead or not," Tajudeen stated. "We are at the hospital waiting for the doctor's report. After that, I will let you know."

Escalating Security Crisis in Kebbi

This terrorist assault comes just days after another major security incident in the same troubled local government area. Last week, gunmen abducted the Deputy Speaker of the Kebbi State House of Assembly, Samaila Bagudu, from his hometown in Bagudu local government area.

The lawmaker was kidnapped on Friday, October 31, 2025, at approximately 8:20 p.m., shortly after completing his Isha'i prayers and while returning home from the mosque. The Kebbi State Police Command has deployed a joint team comprising police tactical units, military personnel, and local vigilantes to rescue the deputy speaker and apprehend the perpetrators.

The Commissioner of Police described the abduction as "a dastardly act that will not go unpunished," emphasizing the seriousness with which security agencies are treating the escalating violence in the region.

These consecutive security breaches highlight the growing vulnerability of government installations and officials in Kebbi State, raising concerns about the effectiveness of current security measures in the northwestern region of Nigeria.
