Nigeria-US Airstrikes Kill 20 ISIS Fighters in Borno

The Defence Headquarters, in close coordination with the United States Africa Command (AFRICOM), has escalated operations against ISIS militants in North-East Nigeria. Additional air strike operations were successfully executed in the general area of Metele in Borno State.

Multiple Airstrikes Target Terrorist Convergence

In a statement on Monday, the Director Defence Information (DDI), Maj.-Gen. Samaila Uba, confirmed that the multiple air strikes followed observed convergence and migration of terrorist elements. The operations resulted in the elimination of more than 20 ISIS/ISWAP fighters.

Ongoing Operations After Commander's Elimination

Uba stated that the ongoing operations followed the elimination of ISIS commander Abu-Bilal al-Minuki on Saturday. These efforts are part of sustained measures to disrupt terrorist networks, remove them from the battlefield, and deny the terrorists any haven within Nigeria.
