Dettol Nigeria concludes storytelling challenge with 30 winners

Dettol Nigeria has wrapped up its “12 Hour Protective Shield” storytelling challenge, rewarding 30 Nigerians who shared personal stories about their experiences with Dettol Original Antibacterial Bar Soap. The challenge, which ran from 13 July to 31 August 2026, invited participants to submit entries ranging from childhood memories to family and personal hygiene routines.

Challenge Details and Winners

The Dettol Original 12hrs Protection Challenge was part of a wider campaign for Dettol Original Soap, centered on its 12-hour protective shield against 99.9% of illness-causing germs. Under the campaign idea, “12 Hours, Protection That Moves With You,” Dettol emphasized the importance of consistent hygiene as Nigerians navigate their daily activities.

After the submission period closed, 30 winners were selected and rewarded with cash prizes for their entries. The initiative aimed to highlight the role of Dettol in everyday hygiene routines while giving Nigerians a platform to share their unique stories.

Consumer Engagement and Activations

Beyond the digital campaign, Dettol brought the experience directly to consumers through in-market activations across multiple states in Nigeria. These activations combined product education and demonstrations with handwashing stations and consumer engagement, reinforcing the brand's commitment to hygiene awareness.

The campaign brought together digital storytelling, consumer engagement, and on-ground experiences to strengthen Dettol Original’s position in Nigerian households. It also provided an opportunity for Nigerians to share personal experiences that have shaped their connection with the brand over the years.

Official Comment and Impact

Commenting on the campaign, Boma Harrison, Marketing Director, Reckitt West Africa, said, “We were particularly pleased to give Nigerians the opportunity to share their personal Dettol stories and hear what protection means to them and their families. The stories shared through the challenge reflect the place Dettol has held in Nigerian households over the years, while reinforcing the importance of hygiene in everyday life.”

The conclusion of the challenge marks a milestone for Dettol Nigeria in engaging consumers through storytelling and interactive activations, further embedding the brand in the daily lives of Nigerian families.
