Former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has been taken to hospital after feeling unwell at Old Trafford ahead of the club's match against Liverpool, British media reported on Sunday. The 84-year-old Scot was conscious and undergoing precautionary checks, according to Sky Sports News.
Ferguson's Legacy at Manchester United
Ferguson managed Manchester United for nearly 27 years before retiring in 2013. He remains a regular presence at the club's matches. He oversaw around 1,500 games in charge, winning 13 Premier League titles, five FA Cups and two UEFA Champions League trophies. He later served as a club ambassador until 2025.
Health Concerns and Recovery
Images circulating on social media earlier on Sunday showed Ferguson at the stadium before the game, including a photo shared by British cardiologist Aseem Malhotra. Ferguson's health has been closely followed since he underwent emergency surgery for a brain haemorrhage in 2018. He later made a recovery and returned to Old Trafford to a standing ovation that same year.
