Troops of 149 Battalion Operation HADIN KAI, in collaboration with the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), have apprehended a suspected teenage terrorist in Gubio town, located in Borno State. The suspect, identified as Umar Zacharria, aged 15, was taken into custody during a joint operation conducted by the military personnel and CJTF operatives.
Details of the Arrest
Security analyst Zagazola Makam disclosed the development on May 22, 2026. Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect originally hails from Jere Local Government Area. During interrogation, he allegedly confessed to being part of a group of terrorists responsible for attacking and terrorizing motorists along the Kareto general area.
Current Status
According to sources, the suspect is currently being held in military custody as further investigations are underway. The joint operation underscores the continued efforts of security forces to combat insurgency in the northeastern region of Nigeria.
