Suspected terrorists launched a brutal attack on a church in Kwara State, leaving three worshippers dead and abducting several others including the pastor during a Tuesday service.
Chaos in Christ Apostolic Church
The violent incident occurred at a branch of the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) in Eruku town, located in the Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State. Armed assailants stormed the church during a meeting on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, immediately opening fire on the congregation.
Eyewitnesses described scenes of panic as worshippers scrambled for safety amid continuous gunfire. Three church members were shot dead at the scene before the attackers rounded up an unspecified number of people at gunpoint.
"The gunmen came in suddenly and started shooting. Three people were killed instantly. They gathered others at gunpoint and marched them into the bush. We still don't know the exact number taken," a local source revealed.
Coordinated Community Assault
The church attack formed part of a larger coordinated assault on Eruku town by heavily armed terrorists. Sources confirmed that the attackers entered the community through one of the major entry routes, firing sporadically as they advanced.
The assault triggered widespread panic, forcing travellers and residents to flee into surrounding bushes for safety. Vehicles were abandoned on roads as people desperately sought cover from the sustained gunfire that echoed across the community.
The terrorists reportedly escaped through bush paths connecting Eruku to neighboring communities, taking their captives with them.
Desperate Pleas for Help
A traveller who narrowly escaped the attack recorded a frantic video while hiding in the bush, providing chilling evidence of the security crisis. In the shaky footage, gunshots can be heard echoing in the background as the man pleads for immediate intervention.
"This is 18-11-2025. On my way coming back from the Federal Poly, Bida, Niger State, we were coming through Ilorin road when they started shooting. Everybody has scattered into the bush," the panicked traveller said.
He continued with desperate appeals: "Please, come to our rescue. We are in trouble. They are shooting everywhere. People have abandoned their vehicles. The community is in chaos. Please help us."
Security agencies have yet to release an official statement regarding the number of abductees or ongoing rescue operations in the area.
