Anthony Joshua has dismissed retirement talk, insisting he still has three or four years left in the sport. The Nigerian-British heavyweight star is preparing to return to the ring on July 25 for a warm-up bout against little-known Albanian fighter Kristian Prenga, as reported by talksports.com.
Joshua's Return and Future Plans
Victory over Prenga will set up a long-awaited all-British showdown with Tyson Fury later this year. Many had speculated that the Fury fight would be Joshua's last, but the 36-year-old believes he has plenty left in the tank. 'It's only like three or four years. I'm coming up to 37 in October, so it's only three years; it'll go quick,' Joshua said. 'Obviously, it's gonna be tough, but I definitely think I'm tough enough to do it. Why not, why not? I'm definitely more mature.'
Personal Tragedy and Training Camp
Joshua's return comes after a tragic car crash in December that killed two of his close friends, Sina Ghami and Latif 'Latz' Ayodele. Joshua sustained minor injuries but has since made a full recovery. He is currently training in Spain with Oleksandr Usyk and his team. Usyk, who defeated Joshua twice in 2020 and 2021, believes his former foe has what it takes to become the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world.
