Maktown Flyers Lose Second Game to FUS Rabat

Nigeria's Maktown Flyers suffered a 97-72 defeat at the hands of hosts FUS Rabat in their second game of the Sahara Conference at the Basketball Africa League (BAL) over the weekend. The match took place at the Moulay Abdellah Sports Complex in Rabat, Morocco.

Strong Start for Flyers

The Flyers, making their debut in the championship, had started their campaign impressively by defeating JCA Kings of Cote d'Ivoire 76-68 in their opening game. However, they were brought back to reality by FUS Rabat, who delivered a commanding performance in front of a home crowd.

The Moroccan team controlled the game from start to finish, extending their unbeaten start to the conference and solidifying their status as early contenders for a top-four finish. Abdoulaye Harouna and Will Perry combined for 50 points, 10 rebounds and 11 assists, while the entire team converted 50 per cent of their shots.

For the Flyers, Tyrell Corbin led the scoring with 13 points and five assists, while Ogbodeje Abah contributed 13 points and five rebounds. The BAL Sahara Conference is crucial for teams strengthening their positions in the race for playoff qualification.

In the first game of the conference, Al Ahly of Egypt recorded their first win, defeating ASC Ville de Dakar of Senegal 76-72. Al Ahly showed composure down the stretch to secure the victory, handing the Senegalese champions a second consecutive defeat. Kevin Murphy led Al Ahly with 21 points and six rebounds, while Ater Majok topped ASC Ville de Dakar with 16 points and seven rebounds.
