The Director-General of the Lagos State Sports Commission, Mr. Lekan Fatodu, has expressed strong support for the upcoming GOtv Boxing Night, describing it as a vital platform for nurturing Nigerian boxing talent.
Official Endorsement for Boxing Extravaganza
During a courtesy visit by Flykite Productions organizers on Friday, Fatodu commended the consistency of GOtv Boxing Night in reviving public interest in boxing and providing opportunities for young fighters to showcase their skills. The meeting took place at the Teslim Balogun Stadium office, where the Flykite delegation formally announced plans for the 34th edition of the event.
The December 26 event will hold at the iconic Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS) in Lagos, continuing the tradition of bringing world-class boxing entertainment to sports enthusiasts across Nigeria.
Strengthening Public-Private Partnership
Fatodu emphasized that GOtv Boxing Night represents one of the most enduring private-sector initiatives in Nigerian sports. He stated that the event has successfully brought life back to Nigerian boxing while consistently delivering top-tier entertainment to fans.
"What GOtv Boxing Night has achieved over the years deserves every form of support," Fatodu declared. "As a state that prides itself on sports excellence, Lagos is proud to be associated with this initiative."
The Director-General assured the organizers of the Commission's full backing for the forthcoming edition, pledging to work closely with Flykite Productions to ensure a successful outing. He highlighted that Lagos State under Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu remains committed to fostering a vibrant sports culture and partnering with credible private promoters.
Jam Festiva: Boxing Meets Entertainment
Mr. Bamidele Johnson, Chief Operating Officer of Flykite Productions, expressed appreciation for the Commission's continued support over the years. He noted that Lagos has remained the home of GOtv Boxing Night since inception due to the state's excellent facilities, hospitality, and enthusiastic sports fans.
Johnson disclosed that the December edition, themed "Jam Festiva," will feature top Nigerian boxers across various weight categories, live musical performances by popular artists, and comedy segments, creating a perfect blend of sports and entertainment.
"We are excited to be back at TBS, the iconic venue where Lagosians have witnessed many memorable editions of the show," Johnson said. "This edition will be bigger and better, and we are grateful for the support the Commission has promised."
GOtv Boxing Night 34 will be broadcast live on SuperSport, allowing boxing fans across the continent to enjoy the action from the comfort of their homes.
