Akor Adams Praises Osimhen's 'High Standard' Ahead of Nigeria's AFCON 2025 Semifinal
Adams Sends Special Message to Osimhen Before Morocco Clash

Super Eagles forward Akor Adams has sent a powerful and respectful message to his strike partner, Victor Osimhen, as Nigeria prepares for a high-stakes Africa Cup of Nations semifinal clash against host nation Morocco.

Adams Hails Osimhen's Unmatched Standard

In a candid video that has gone viral on social media, the Sevilla striker expressed immense admiration for the 2023 CAF Player of the Year. Adams stated that Osimhen has established a benchmark within the national team that will be challenging for any player to match in the near future.

The 25-year-old acknowledged Osimhen's monumental importance to Nigerian football off the pitch, while emphasizing his own focus on professionalism and execution during games. "Outside, of course, we all know who he is. We know how important he is to Nigerian football," Adams said. "So yeah, if we want to also tread in the same path, we have to be humble enough to admit that he has set the standard for us."

Deadly Duo Fire Eagles to Semifinals

The attacking partnership between Osimhen and Adams has been a cornerstone of Nigeria's journey to the last four of the tournament being held in Morocco. The duo combined to score both goals in the 2-0 quarterfinal victory over Algeria in Marrakesh, with Osimhen opening the scoring in the 47th minute before Adams sealed the win ten minutes later.

Their combined tally for the tournament now stands at an impressive six goals. According to statistics from Sofa Score, Osimhen has netted four times—against Tunisia, Mozambique (twice), and Algeria—while Adams has scored twice, finding the net against Mozambique and Algeria.

Settling In With Help from Senior Eagles

Akor Adams also took time to reveal how senior players in the Super Eagles camp facilitated his smooth integration into the squad following his invitation. He highlighted the supportive role played by former captain William Troost-Ekong and others during his initial call-up.

"I thank God for the opportunity, first of all, but I think everybody is helping me to really settle in because the national team is different from the club," Adams explained. He noted the shorter timeframes in national team camps compared to club settings and praised the welcoming atmosphere created by senior figures like Moses Simon, Alex Iwobi, and Victor Osimhen himself.

His impactful performances have not gone unnoticed by the technical crew. Super Eagles coach Eric Chelle has previously commended the Sevilla forward for bringing stability to the team's attack throughout the continental championship.

All eyes are now on the semifinal showdown, where Akor Adams is expected to start alongside Victor Osimhen as Nigeria aims to overcome the host nation, Morocco, and secure a place in the AFCON 2025 final.
