Allegri replaces Conte as Napoli manager

Veteran Italian coach Massimiliano Allegri has been appointed as the new manager of Napoli, replacing Antonio Conte, the Serie A club announced on Friday, July 3. The 58-year-old has signed a three-year contract that will keep him at the club until 2029.

Allegri's Coaching Career

Allegri brings a wealth of experience to Napoli, having previously coached Juventus from 2014 to 2019 and again from 2021 to 2024, as well as AC Milan in two stints (2010–2014 and 2025–2026). His most recent tenure at Milan ended after a late-season downturn saw the team finish fifth, missing out on qualification for next season's Champions League.

Conte's Future

Antonio Conte, who guided Napoli to the Serie A title in the 2024/25 campaign and a second-place finish in the most recent season, has been widely tipped as the favourite to take over as Italy coach. The former Italy international previously managed the national side between 2014 and 2016, leading them to the Euro 2016 quarter-finals, where they lost on penalties to Germany.
