Arsenal Face £25,000 FA Fine After Heated Chelsea Draw in London Derby
Arsenal fined £25k after six bookings in Chelsea clash

The Football Association is poised to hit Arsenal with a significant financial penalty following a fiery and ill-disciplined London derby against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

Stalemate on the Pitch, Trouble from the FA

The Premier League clash on Sunday, December 1, 2025, ended in a 1-1 draw, but the real drama unfolded in the match official's notebook. While Chelsea played over half the game with ten men after Moises Caicedo's red card, it was Arsenal's accumulation of yellow cards that has landed them in hot water with the governing body.

Referee Anthony Taylor was a busy figure, brandishing a total of seven yellow cards. A staggering six of those bookings were issued to Arsenal players, triggering an automatic fine under the FA's disciplinary rules.

Breakdown of a Disciplinary Nightmare

The Gunners' trouble started early, with three players booked within the first half-hour. Martin Zubimendi and Riccardo Calafiori were penalised for fouls on Chelsea captain Reece James, while Christhian Mosquera saw yellow for a challenge on Pedro Neto.

The second half brought no respite. Piero Hincapie was fortunate to only receive a booking for an elbow that left goalscorer Trevoh Chalobah with a facial injury. Substitute Myles Lewis-Skelly, brought on for the cautioned Calafiori, was himself booked just nine minutes after entering the fray. Striker Viktor Gyokeres completed the unwanted set with a foul on goalkeeper Robert Sanchez.

In contrast, Marc Cucurella was the sole Chelsea player to receive a yellow card, a fact that left many Arsenal supporters aggrieved.

The Financial and Sporting Consequences

According to reports from the London Evening Standard, the FA will fine Arsenal £25,000 for receiving six yellow cards in a single match. This marks the second time the club has fallen foul of this specific rule, having previously been fined in February 2024 after a six-booking performance against Liverpool.

Chelsea, despite finishing with ten men, will not face a similar fine. However, they will be without Moises Caicedo for three crucial matches. The midfielder, sent off for a rash challenge on Arsenal's Mikel Merino, will serve a suspension against Leeds United, Bournemouth, and Everton. Notably, this was Caicedo's first red card in 130 Premier League appearances.

Despite the disciplinary setback, the draw did little to dent Arsenal's title ambitions. Mikel Arteta's side remains five points clear at the top of the Premier League table, with data analysts still giving them a strong chance to lift the trophy.
