CAF Sends Message to Morocco Ahead of 2026 World Cup Quarter-Final vs France
CAF Backs Morocco for 2026 World Cup Quarter-Final vs France

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has publicly rallied behind Morocco ahead of their 2026 FIFA World Cup quarter-final clash with France. Morocco enters the match as the sole representative of African football still standing in the competition. All nine other African nations that participated in the 2026 edition were knocked out before the quarter-final stage.

CAF's Message of Support

CAF posted a message of encouragement on X, cheering Morocco on as they push for another semi-final appearance at the World Cup, a stage the North African nation famously reached during the 2022 edition in Qatar. The post highlighted Morocco's historic achievement and urged the team to continue making Africa proud.

Morocco's Coach Sets Sights on Title

Morocco head coach Mohamed Ouahbi said he would not be satisfied simply with a quarter-final result, adding that the goal is to win the entire tournament. "I will never be satisfied with something we've achieved if we are still capable of achieving more. We absolutely want to win, and we will do everything we can to win," he told FIFA. "We're not going to listen to people who tell us, 'You've already done well,' or, 'It doesn't matter if you lose because France are favourites.'"

Supercomputer Predicts France as Favorites

Legit.ng previously reported that Opta's supercomputer predicted the outcome of the 2026 FIFA World Cup quarter-final match between France and Morocco. The supercomputer gave France an overwhelming chance of beating Morocco and reaching the semi-final, where they will face Spain or Belgium.

Morocco's Historic Run

Morocco remains the only African team in the tournament after all nine other African sides were eliminated in the earlier rounds. The Atlas Lions are aiming to replicate their 2022 performance, where they became the first African team to reach the World Cup semi-finals. The match against France is set to be a tough test, but Morocco's coach and players are determined to defy the odds.
