Galatasaray Coach Buruk Reacts After Osimhen Misses Loss

Galatasaray head coach Okan Buruk has shared his thoughts following his team's defeat in the final match of the season. Adrian Benedyczak's first-half goal was enough for Kasimpasa to secure a 1-0 victory and avoid relegation. Forward Victor Osimhen missed the match due to suspension after accumulating yellow cards.

Buruk Reflects on Season and Loss

Speaking after the match, Buruk acknowledged the demanding schedule his team faced throughout the 2025/26 season. Galatasaray played 12 Champions League matches, 34 league matches, 2 Super Cup matches, and 5 Turkish Cup games. Buruk stated, "We had a very long match schedule. So we came out of a very intense schedule. Winning the championship, going into the final week as champions, was important for us."

He explained that some players were worn out and were not included in the squad to ensure they were physically and mentally ready for upcoming national team duties. Buruk also noted that Osimhen was unavailable due to his yellow card suspension.

Commitment to Galatasaray and Future Goals

Buruk reiterated his deep commitment to the club, having been part of Galatasaray since the age of 11. He said, "I am a son of Galatasaray, raised in the youth academy, a part of great successes, and I have seen 11 championships in total, 7 as a player and 4 as a coach." He expressed his desire to continue living his dream and aims to secure the club's 27th league title next season, as well as break the record for five consecutive championships.

Despite the loss, Galatasaray had already secured the Turkish Super League title on matchday 33 with a 4-2 win over Antalyaspor, inspired by Osimhen. The final day defeat did not diminish the team's achievement of winning their fourth consecutive league championship.
