Galatasaray midfielder Mario Lemina has lavished praise on his teammate Victor Osimhen, declaring the Nigerian forward as the best striker in the world following their Turkish Super Lig title triumph. Osimhen scored a brace to help Galatasaray come from behind and defeat Antalyaspor 4-2, securing the club's fourth consecutive league championship with one match remaining in the season.
Lemina Hails Osimhen's Impact
In a post-match interview after the title-clinching victory, Lemina did not hold back in his admiration for Osimhen. The Gabonese international described the Super Eagles star as a special player and the most complete striker he has ever seen.
"Victor Osimhen is the world's best striker. He is the most complete striker I've seen in my life. I think he's the best I've seen in my life. He's a special one," Lemina told 360 Experience, as quoted by Soccernet.
Lemina also highlighted the strong bond between the two players. "We love each other with Osimhen. We always want to win. When someone shouts, it's a positive thing for the team. I love that. Osimhen is a warrior. His best quality is his competitiveness. He always wants to win."
Osimhen's Season Statistics
Osimhen ended the 2025-26 campaign with 22 goals and 11 assists in 33 appearances across all competitions. While this marks a decline from his previous season's tally of 37 goals and eight assists, the dip can be attributed to injuries and his participation in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations. The Nigerian will miss the final league game against Kasimpasa due to suspension.
Title Celebration Reactions
Both players expressed their joy after the title win. Lemina told GS TV: "I am very happy. We always dreamed of this beautiful moment and worked very hard to see it. I want to congratulate the team, our coach, our fans and our staff."
Osimhen added: "Antalya made things difficult for us tonight, but we are Galatasaray. We need to overcome these kinds of matches. We go out onto the field to perform well in these kinds of games. We became champions tonight. We are very happy."
Transfer Speculation Surrounding Osimhen
Osimhen remains a subject of intense transfer interest from top European clubs. Galatasaray may consider selling the striker if a suitable offer arrives during the upcoming transfer window. Meanwhile, Galatasaray coach Okan Buruk has already set his sights on defending the title again next season, urging his players to focus on continued success.
