Manchester United have officially confirmed Michael Carrick as the club's new head coach on a permanent basis. The former United midfielder, who initially took over as interim manager in January following the dismissal of Ruben Amorim, has been rewarded with the full-time role after guiding the team back to the Champions League.
Impressive Run of Results
Under Carrick's leadership, United have won 11 of their 16 matches, drawing three and losing just two. This run included a four-game winning streak and emphatic victories over Manchester City and Arsenal. When Carrick took charge, the team was seventh in the Premier League, but Sunday's 3-2 win over Nottingham Forest secured third place with a game remaining.
Backroom Team to Stay
Carrick's coaching staff, including Steve Holland, Jonathan Woodgate, Jonny Evans, and Travis Binnion, are expected to receive new contracts to continue their work at the club.
Carrick's Statement
Speaking about his appointment, Carrick said: 'From the moment that I arrived here 20 years ago, I felt the magic of Manchester United. Carrying the responsibility of leading our special football club fills me with immense pride.'
He added: 'Throughout the past five months this group of players have shown they can reach the standards of resilience, togetherness, and determination that we demand here. Now it's time to move forward together, with ambition and a clear sense of purpose. Manchester United and our incredible supporters deserve to be challenging for the biggest honours again.'
