Victor Osimhen has opened up about his time at Galatasaray, expressing deep satisfaction and gratitude for his two-year stint at the Turkish club. The Nigerian striker, who initially joined on loan for the 2024/25 season before making a permanent €75 million move at the start of the 2025/26 campaign, has helped Galatasaray secure three trophies, including back-to-back Turkish Super League titles.
Osimhen's Achievements at Galatasaray
Osimhen played a pivotal role in Galatasaray's fourth consecutive league title, though his individual statistics dipped due to injuries and participation in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations. Despite being only one year into his permanent contract, top European clubs continue to show interest in the forward, with many fans and pundits urging him to seize the opportunity to move to a more competitive league.
Compatriots John Utaka and Victor Obinna Nsofor have publicly advised Osimhen to leave Galatasaray and join one of the interested clubs. However, Osimhen remains focused on his current situation.
Osimhen's Emotional Reflection
Speaking on Galatasaray's YouTube live session, Osimhen said, "It feels so good. The feeling is still overwhelming. The first two titles I've won with Gala are the greatest for now. I'm enjoying every bit of it. So far, so good. This is where I enjoy most in my career."
He added, "The league titles I've won here have given me some kind of sense of fulfilment because I feel like I deserve it. The club deserve it, the fans deserve it. I'm enjoying my time as well as the titles I've won here. So yeah, I feel very good and fulfilled."
Looking Ahead to Next Season
Galatasaray manager Okan Buruk has set a target of winning a fifth consecutive league title next season, a goal Osimhen believes is achievable despite the increasing difficulty. "It is achievable, but just like this season, next season is going to be even harder because, of course, every team wants to beat the best, every team wants to beat Galatasaray. It's because it's going to give them some kind of huge name when they get a win against Gala," Osimhen explained.
He emphasized the need for preparation: "Everyone should be prepared, including the fans, the players, the staff, everyone associated with this club Gala, should prepare for next season. Of course, it's not going to be easy, but we will also come very much stronger, and we will triumph."
Osimhen will miss Galatasaray's final match of the season at Kasimpasa due to a yellow card accumulation suspension, as reported by Livescore.
Mourinho Interested in Osimhen
In related news, Jose Mourinho has reportedly urged Real Madrid to sign Osimhen as part of his conditions to return to the Spanish club. Mourinho has long admired the Nigerian forward, though they have never worked together, having faced each other as opponents in Italy and Turkey.
