Background

Cucurella originally joined Chelsea from Brighton & Hove Albion in 2022 for a fee of £63 million. At the time of his departure, he still had three years remaining on his contract at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea expressed their gratitude in a statement: "Everyone at Chelsea FC would like to thank Marc for his efforts during his time at the club and for the role he played in our recent achievements. We wish him every success as he begins the next stage of his career."

Further Transfer Activity

In addition to Cucurella, Real Madrid are expected to pursue other targets. Centre-back Ibrahima Konaté and midfielder Bernardo Silva are anticipated to join when their contracts with Liverpool and Manchester City expire at the end of the month. Furthermore, Madrid plan to activate a €20 million clause in Denzel Dumfries' contract to sign the Inter Milan right-back.
