Golfer Dayo Folarin clinched a decisive victory at the 11th edition of the prestigious Alake Golf Tournament, which concluded over the weekend at the Abeokuta Golf Club. The event saw fierce competition from more than 130 players vying for top honours across various categories.

Folarin Outclasses the Field

To secure the overall win in the keenly contested tournament, Dayo Folarin delivered an impressive performance, finishing with a net score of 68. His skill and precision on the course allowed him to outclass a strong field of competitors, setting him apart as the champion of this year's event.

Category Winners and Close Contests

The tournament featured several tightly fought battles across different handicap and professional divisions. In the highly competitive 0-5 handicap category, Seye Ijaola took first place with a score of 73 net.

A dramatic finish occurred where Azeez Odejayi and Michael Oladeji both finished with a net score of 78. Odejayi was ultimately declared the winner after a countback decision.

The professional category was won by Mubasiru Sanusi, who posted a gross score of 72. He defeated the second-placed Kabiru Adisa, also from Abeokuta Golf Club, by a margin of three shots. Kadiri Aminu from Ilorin finished third with a gross 75, losing the second spot to Adisa on countback.

Ladies, Veterans, and Special Prizes

In the ladies' category, Adenike Saliu claimed victory with a stellar net score of 69. Ronke Folami finished as runner-up, her score of 71 net falling just two shots short of the winning mark.

The veteran category was led by J.B Mohammed from Dolphin Golf Club, who edged out Tajudeen Oladipo by a single shot. Meanwhile, Tajudeen Saka won the trophy in the Super Veteran Category.
