Amusa Kelani Triumphs at 2025 Ikeja Championship, Dedicates Win to Caddie
Kelani wins 2025 Ikeja Golf Club Championship

Golfer Amusa Kelani has emerged as the champion of the prestigious 2025 Ikeja Golf Club Championship, overcoming a field of over 100 competitors. In a heartfelt moment following his victory on Sunday, December 2, 2025, Kelani dedicated his hard-fought win to his caddie and other supportive club members.

A Hard-Fought Victory and Emotional Dedication

Securing his second Ikeja Championship title after first winning in 2023, Kelani posted a score of 21 over par across the tournament's three-day duration. His performance earned him the overall trophy and the coveted Green Jacket during the Sunday evening presentation ceremony. Beyond the symbolic prizes, his triumph as the Gross winner was rewarded with a substantial LG 65-inch nanocell television set.

In his post-victory remarks, an elated Kelani expressed the challenge of his journey. He revealed there were moments he nearly gave up, but a determined push on the final day secured his return to the winner's circle. "I am glad that I redeemed my pledge and came out as champion," Kelani stated. "I dedicate this victory to my caddie and all those who made it possible."

Prizes and Tournament Structure

The championship recognized several top performers. Runners-up Arun Sharma and Jimoh Ogundare were also rewarded for their efforts. Sharma, finishing at 28 over par, and Ogundare, at 32 over par, each received an LG Dishwashing machine. Quality prizes were additionally awarded to golfers who placed from fourth to tenth on the final leaderboard.

The competition was intense, with the field narrowing significantly after the first two rounds. From the initial 100 players, only 39 made the cut to compete on the decisive final day.

Elevating the Championship's Status

A significant development for this year's event was its expansion from a two-day to a three-day tournament. Club Captain Rasheed Adebisi explained this was a deliberate move to align with the World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR) system, allowing participants to earn crucial ranking points.

Captain Adebisi commended the strong field of players and the excitement they generated. He also extended gratitude to the event's sponsors, the dedicated caddies, and clubhouse staff who maintain the course. "We salute you all and look forward to you all putting in more efforts to make the next edition even better," he stated.

The victory celebration was extensive, with over 100 trophies distributed during the dinner party. These included awards for winners of other championships organized by the Ikeja Golf Club earlier in the year, making it a grand culmination of the club's competitive season.
