The Local Organising Committee (LOC) of the 18th National Sports Festival (NSF) yesterday took delivery of five vehicles that will aid the successful hosting of the festival, scheduled between November and December this year. The vehicles were presented by the Managing Director of Alliance Auto Nigeria Limited, Regis Tromeur, at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Lagos.

The donated fleet includes three cars, a truck, and one 16-seater van bus. Receiving the vehicles on behalf of the Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Adejoke Orelope-Adefulere, the Commissioner for Sports, Enitan Oshodi, said such gestures will encourage other corporate bodies in the state to come on board.

Oshodi noted that the state alone cannot host the festival, stressing the importance of support from corporate organisations. He said, “The state alone cannot host the festival. It is with the support coming from corporate organisations like that will help the state host a successful festival. This is positive because it will help make the work of the LOC easier and effective.”

Sponsor's Remarks on Partnership

In his response, Tromeur said that realising the potential of sports as a tool to reach personal, community, national, and international development objectives requires the support and involvement of all stakeholders.

He announced, “As official car sponsors of Eko 2012 games, we announce our sponsorship of the games with five Nissan vehicles, and we hope that this gesture will encourage other organisations to partner with the LOC, the Lagos State government, and the National Sports Commission (NSC).”

Tromeur also acknowledged the hard work being put into the organisation of the games by the Secretary General of the LOC, Kweku Tando, and his team, expressing hope that the relationship with the LOC will be further strengthened.

Impact on Festival Preparations

The vehicles are expected to enhance the logistical operations of the LOC as preparations intensify for the festival, which is set to bring together athletes from across Nigeria. The support from Alliance Auto Nigeria is seen as a significant boost to the committee's efforts, potentially inspiring other corporate entities to contribute to the successful hosting of the event.
