Nigerian midfielder Daniel Daga has committed his long-term future to Norwegian club Molde after signing a new contract that keeps him at the club until the summer of 2031. The 19-year-old, who joined Molde ahead of the 2025 season, has made 22 official appearances, scoring five goals and providing one assist.
Daga Expresses Delight at New Deal
Daga expressed his joy at the extension, crediting God and revealing how much the Norwegian club has come to mean to him. “First of all, I thank God. I am very happy to have signed a new contract. I really enjoy being at Molde, and the club has earned a big place in my heart,” he said.
“We have a fantastic group of players and an exciting future ahead of us. I am proud to continue the journey and fight for this shirt,” Daga added.
Reasons Behind the Extension
The Nigeria youth international stated that Molde’s ambitions and his desire for continued development were major factors in his decision to extend his stay. “There are many exciting things happening in Molde that I want to be part of. At the same time, I feel this is the right place for me to continue my development,” he explained.
“I would like to thank the club, the support staff and the supporters. Now I am looking forward to what comes next,” Daga concluded.
Molde Sporting Director Praises Daga
Molde sporting director Ole Jakob Strandhagen expressed satisfaction with securing Daga’s long-term future. “Daniel is a young and ambitious player with qualities that already make him important to us. At the same time, we believe he has significant potential for further development,” Strandhagen said.
“He is eager to learn, works extremely purposefully every day and has a strong desire to improve,” the sporting director added, noting that Molde is committed to creating the right environment for Daga to progress.
International Experience and Future Prospects
Daga has also gained significant international experience with Nigeria’s youth teams, representing the country at the 2025 FIFA U-20 World Cup, where he faced his Molde teammate Sondre Granaas during the tournament. With his long-term future now secured in Norway, Daga will look to build on his progress and establish himself as an increasingly important figure for Molde in the coming seasons.
