The Williams sisters lost the first set 6–3 but rebounded to take the second set in a tiebreak, winning 7–6 (6). In the third set, they trailed 1–4 before mounting a comeback to force a 10-point match tiebreak. There, the sisters won the first five points consecutively, but could not hold on to their advantage. Both committed double faults, allowing Chan and Joint to eventually snatch victory.
This was Serena and Venus's first joint match at the US Open since 2022. The duo has won 14 Grand Slam doubles titles and three Olympic gold medals together, in 2000, 2008, and 2012. At the US Open specifically, they claimed the doubles title in 1999 and 2009.

Serena, 44, returned to professional tennis this year after a lengthy break, while Venus, 46, has continued competing on tour. The loss marks an early exit from the tournament for the pair, who were unseeded in the doubles draw.
