Super Eagles head coach, Eric Chelle, has made a bold declaration, naming Calvin Bassey as the finest central defender at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations currently concluding in Morocco.

The Nigerian gaffer did not hold back in his admiration for the Fulham star during his pre-match press conference ahead of Nigeria's bronze medal match. Chelle highlighted Bassey's exceptional consistency and growth throughout the tournament, where he featured in every single one of the Super Eagles' matches.
