St. Saviour's School in Ikoyi has officially announced the return of its popular youth sporting event, the 7th edition of the Endowment Fund Lagos Kids Mini Marathon, scheduled to take place on Saturday, December 6, 2025.
Event Details and Partnerships
This year's edition, carrying the vibrant theme "Rock the Path, Your Way," will be hosted at Orange Island, Lagos. The school has secured valuable partnerships with the Lagos State Government, financial services firm CardinalStone, and the Alafia Foundation.
The Alafia Foundation has made a significant contribution to the event by donating 500 trainers for the participating children, ensuring they have proper footwear for the races.
Promoting Fitness and Supporting Education
The annual marathon has grown into one of Lagos's most celebrated children's sporting initiatives, attracting participants aged 5 to 14 from both private and public schools across the state and beyond.
Beyond promoting physical fitness, the event focuses on developing resilience, teamwork, and healthy competition among young participants. Importantly, it serves as a fundraising initiative for the St. Saviour's School Endowment Fund, with portions dedicated to transforming the lives of underprivileged children through educational support.
Race Categories and Safety Measures
This year's marathon will feature multiple race categories to accommodate children with different athletic abilities:
- Shorter distance races starting from 1km
- Longer challenges up to 5km
Mrs. Enitan Rewane, Chairperson of the Planning Committee, expressed excitement about the upcoming event and confirmed that comprehensive arrangements have been made across medical, security, entertainment, and logistics to ensure a safe and impactful experience for all participants.
The event will also feature family fun activities, hydration stations, recovery areas, medals, awards, fitness demonstrations, and community engagement zones, creating a festive atmosphere around the sporting competition.
