Bells University Student Wins Tech Competition Against UI

A Nigerian student from Bells University of Technology, Maryam Jelani, has shared her inspiring story of triumph after competing against students from the University of Ibadan and other institutions. Her team emerged as the first-place winners in the CODET Group Category Competition.

Competing Against Top Universities

On her LinkedIn page, Maryam Jelani detailed the journey that led to their victory. She revealed that the team almost did not register for the competition but ultimately decided to participate. The competition featured participants from several universities, including the University of Ibadan, Covenant University, LAUTECH, and others.

Jelani explained that after a previous Pitchathon experience where their team placed fourth, they received encouraging feedback about their project. This motivated them to refine their idea and enter the CODET Competition with a rebranded version of their smart feeding device, now called TremorX.

Behind the Scenes

She highlighted the unseen efforts behind their success, including uncertainty, countless rehearsals, last-minute adjustments, and the pressure to do justice to their idea. As the competition progressed, the tension built, with each presentation raising the bar.

When the results were announced, their team was declared the first-place winners for their regional zone. Jelani expressed gratitude to her teammates, including Jagjit-singh Daljit, Simi Clement, Afolabi-Jombo, and Tobiloba Bankole, as well as her dean, lecturers, and friends for their support.

Next Step: National Stage

The victory is not the end of the road. The team will now proceed to Abuja to compete against winners from other regional zones at the national stage of the competition.
