FG unveils GovGuideNigeria AI platform for governance

The Federal Government has launched GovGuideNigeria, an artificial intelligence-powered platform aimed at simplifying access to government information and public services for Nigerians nationwide. The announcement was made by the Minister of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, Dr Bosun Tijani, via a statement on his X handle on Thursday.

Dr Tijani described the initiative as part of the government's broader efforts to enhance public service delivery through technology and digital innovation. The platform is accessible via WhatsApp and the web, and supports English, Hausa, Igbo, and Yoruba to ensure inclusivity for citizens from diverse linguistic backgrounds.

According to the Minister, GovGuideNigeria provides users with easy access to information from over 35 federal ministries and more than 60 government agencies. It is designed to bridge language and information gaps, especially for underserved and low-literacy communities that often struggle to access government information and services.

“Today, we launched GovGuideNigeria, an AI-powered platform designed to make access to government information simpler, faster, and more inclusive for every Nigerian,” the Minister said. He emphasized that the initiative reflects the government's commitment to ensuring that artificial intelligence and digital technologies deliver practical value to citizens.

Two years ago, the Ministry launched Nigeria's first Multilingual Large Language Model (LLM) called N-ATLAS. N-ATLAS is a multilingual, multimodal, open-source LLM designed to map and digitize Nigeria's rich linguistic heritage while building datasets to power inclusive AI solutions. This initiative was developed through a partnership between Nigerian AI company Awarritech, global tech company DataDotOrg, the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), and the National Centre for AI and Robotics (NCAIR).

The GovGuideNigeria initiative was developed in collaboration with NCAIR, Meta, and Publica. Dr Tijani noted that this project demonstrates the impact of partnerships between government institutions, private sector players, and local innovators in addressing public sector challenges.

“I appreciate the strong collaboration between NCAIR, Meta, and Publica in bringing this important initiative to life,” Tijani stated. He encouraged all Nigerians to utilize the platform for convenient access to government-related information and services.
