Yomi Denzel Foundation Empowers Youths with AI and Programming Expertise
A significant skill development initiative by the Yomi Denzel Foundation (YDF) has successfully trained more than 40 young Nigerians in artificial intelligence (AI) and programming. This program is strategically designed to enhance youth employability and foster financial independence by equipping participants with essential digital skills for Nigeria's rapidly evolving economy.
Comprehensive Training and Support
The training sessions were conducted in Lagos and Ibadan, focusing on key areas such as Python programming, data science, and AI. Participants not only gained hands-on experience but also received industry-recognized certifications. Additionally, many were provided with laptops to facilitate ongoing learning and practical application of their new skills.
At the foundation's fourth graduation ceremony, founder Yomi Denzel emphasized that the initiative targets motivated young people, regardless of their academic backgrounds. He stated, "We want to give them the skills that are important now, like programming and AI, and provide the tools so they can build a better future for themselves." Denzel highlighted that over 40 participants were trained in the latest cohort, with approximately 25 earning both Python and DataCamp certifications, along with computers to support their technological endeavors.

Graduates of the program reported substantial improvements in their analytical abilities and job prospects. Wonderment Adedayo, representing the Lagos graduates, described the training as a transformative experience, noting that many participants evolved from having minimal coding knowledge to being capable of developing tech solutions. Similarly, Joshua Oduola, the Ibadan graduates' representative, highlighted how the program helped students transition from dependency to being career-ready, achieving multiple certifications within a nine-month period.
Testimonials from past beneficiaries underscore the program's effectiveness, with alumni securing internships at major organizations, participating in global hackathons, and even launching successful startups. One alumnus shared that the training enabled him to secure roles in technology firms and establish an AI-driven startup with over 2,000 users.
