Ogun Police Expose AI-Generated Threat Video

The Ogun State Police Command has moved to reassure the public after a disturbing video threatening attacks on communities and tertiary institutions in the state went viral on social media. In an official statement released on Wednesday, November 27, 2025, the police confirmed that the video is a fabrication, created using Artificial Intelligence (AI).

Forensic Analysis Reveals the Truth

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Omolola Odutola, the command's cybercrime and intelligence unit conducted a detailed forensic analysis of the clip. The investigation, which took place in Abeokuta, the state capital, led to the definitive conclusion that the video was artificially generated. Odutola firmly dismissed rumours linking the content to any known terrorist organisation or operational cell.

"The circulating video clips were created using artificial intelligence (AI) by a clandestine individual or group of persons yet to be identified," stated SP Odutola. She added that the footage was first traced to a foreign online source approximately three months ago before resurfacing in various forms on different platforms.

Police Assurance and Heightened Security

Despite identifying the video as a hoax, the police emphasized that they are taking the matter seriously. The command is actively working with determination and precision to uncover the identity of the individual or network responsible for creating and circulating the misleading content.

Most importantly, the Police PRO assured all residents that there is no credible intelligence indicating any planned attack on Ogun State, its communities, schools, or public institutions. The Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Ogunlowo, has directed increased surveillance, enhanced patrols, and sustained inter-agency collaboration to ensure continuous peace and security. He affirmed that the state remains safe, stable, and fully secure.

The public is urged to remain calm, continue their lawful activities without fear, and avoid spreading unverified materials. Residents are encouraged to promptly report any suspicious persons or activities to the nearest police station.
