In a stunning display of endurance and expertise, a Nigerian cloud engineer has officially entered the Guinness World Records for an unprecedented feat in technology education. Abel Yakubu, based in Germany with NexEdge Technologies, led a continuous 60-hour computer programming lesson in Abuja, shattering the previous global benchmark.
Marathon Session Breaks Global Record
The historic event unfolded in the nation's capital from Friday, 21 November, to Sunday, 23 November 2025. Yakubu's non-stop tutorial commenced at 11 a.m. on the Friday and concluded at 11 p.m. on the Sunday, far exceeding the former record of 48 hours and 15 minutes. The entire session was broadcast live across major social media platforms, allowing a global audience to witness the milestone.
This was not a solo endeavor. Yakubu was supported by a team of 30 dedicated participants and closely monitored by 20 independent witnesses throughout the marathon to ensure all guidelines were strictly followed. In total, the lesson engaged 60 students and was observed by over 25 official witnesses.
Focus on Cloud Computing and Skill Development
The curriculum for the record-breaking lesson centered on advanced cloud computing platforms, drawing directly from Yakubu's own professional mastery. He delivered in-depth training on industry-leading services including:
- Amazon Web Services (AWS)
- Google Cloud Platform
- Microsoft Azure
This focus reflects Yakubu's more than a decade of experience in the field. He stated that the core aim of the grueling challenge was to push the limits of collaborative learning and skill acquisition. "I undertook this challenge to inspire young tech enthusiasts to develop strong tech skills, especially as AI adoption continues to rise globally," Yakubu explained.
Preparation, Perseverance, and a Message to Nigeria
Achieving this record required immense preparation. Yakubu revealed that the planning phase spanned two intensive months, with overnight practice sessions posing the greatest difficulty. He credited the success to teamwork, meticulous planning, and shared commitment.
Beyond the record, Yakubu's mission is deeply rooted in empowering his homeland. Over the past year alone, he has trained more than 200 young Nigerians in crucial digital skills. He issued a dual call to action: urging the nation's youth to passionately embrace technology and encouraging parents to actively support their children's journey in acquiring digital competencies.
The official confirmation from Guinness World Records does more than celebrate an individual achievement; it highlights the power of strategic effort and perseverance. It also shines a significant spotlight on Nigeria's growing influence and potential in the global technology education landscape.
