Beyond his enviable business exploits, the imprints of Dr. Mike Adenuga are unmistakable in many areas of Nigerian life. This legend has positively—though often silently—affected many lives and institutions, making his enormous blessings infect others. The impacts echo in his adventures in entrepreneurship, culture, arts and entertainment, sports, as well as community development. But, in recent times, Adenuga's charity train berthed in another strategic stratum: among women just welcoming new bundles of joy.
Glo Foundation's Maternity Support
Through the Glo Foundation, the CSR platform of his telecoms company, Globacom, he started ministering to the needs of pregnant women by paying for their delivery costs. As the Ijebu Ode-born colossus thus clocks 73, his investment in humanity deserves further highlight, even if for posterity's sake. It is good that many who celebrated him on April 29, 2026, when he attained the new age, acknowledged the versatility of his kindness to fellow men. Those who saluted him include President Bola Tinubu and the businessman's billionaire younger colleague, Femi Otedola.
Among the states that have enjoyed the health intervention, Ondo hosted the Glo Foundation when it paid for the deliveries of 35 women and donated essential baby items, including boxes of diapers and other relief materials. The gesture, the foundation noted, aimed at easing the financial and emotional burdens of motherhood, especially in times of economic hardship. According to Akeem Yussuf, Retail Chief (West), who represented Globacom, the project reflected the company's compassion and commitment to giving back to the communities that have supported its growth.
"We recognise the vital role mothers play in nurturing the future of our nation, and we believe that supporting you is, in fact, supporting generations to come," he said. He added that the initiative was conceived as a staff project and funded by the company as a way of expressing care and solidarity with mothers. "Motherhood comes with its own challenges. In times of economic or environmental hardship, the challenges can become even more overwhelming. This is why we have chosen to be here—to extend a hand," he stated.
The management of the State Specialist Hospital, Akure, commended Globacom for the thoughtful support and restated their commitment to quality healthcare delivery. The presentation ceremony was filled with joy as the mothers and their families shared their heartfelt appreciation of the supportive gesture. The Glo Foundation's support not only eased the financial strain of childbirth but also reinforced the company's commitment to uplifting people, families, and communities across Nigeria.
The beneficiaries generally appreciated the gesture. Among them are Mrs. Ehinnowo Deborah, who gave birth through Caesarean section; Mrs. Adenuga Ronke; and Mr. Isiaka Segun, husband of one of the beneficiaries, Rasheedat, who noted that the intervention was comprehensive. "We went for the seminar and we were also given diapers, apart from the payment for delivery," Segun said.
Partnership with Mary Slessor Foundation
In another intervention, Glo collaborated with the Mary Slessor Foundation to empower parents of multiple births in Akwa Ibom State. The partnership gave financial support to 350 beneficiaries drawn from the 31 Local Councils of the state. In her welcome remarks, the Coordinator, Mary Slessor-Akan Glo Foundation, Jane Mike, noted that the programme was in line with the legacies of Mary Slessor, who was not only renowned for stopping the killing of twins but also for her huge impact on the less-privileged and others in need.
Adenuga's Philanthropic Legacy
This is how the health outreach signposted the 73rd birthday of 'The Bull', Dr. Mike Adenuga Jr., widely recognised for a philanthropic style that is as substantial as it is understated. Often described as a "quiet billionaire," his approach is characterised by "surgical precision," often intervening in individual lives by funding expensive medical treatments and underwriting educational pursuits for those in need, typically without public fanfare. Recently, in February 2026, he demonstrated this commitment to social stability with a N1 billion donation to the Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF) to bolster urban security and logistics.
Beyond traditional charity, Adenuga has fundamentally shaped the Nigerian social fabric through the institutionalisation of sports and the creative arts. He has been a primary pillar of Nigerian football for decades, with his companies reportedly spending over N3 billion to support the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and the Nigerian Premier League. His legendary support extended to the Super Eagles, whom he rewarded with $1 million following their 2013 African Cup of Nations victory. In the creative sector, he is credited with entrenching Nollywood and the music industry by signing veteran and rising stars as brand ambassadors, providing them with the financial buffer to elevate local talent to a global stage. While many have been on the list for years, the latest entrants include Ahmed Ololade (Asake), Oluwatobiloba Daniel (Kizz Daniel), and Chike Ezekpeazu (Chike).
Adenuga's service to humanity also manifests through "transformational investments" that act as social equalizers. By launching Globacom and aggressively pushing for per-second billing at a time when other providers deemed it impossible, he effectively democratised telecommunications in Nigeria, making mobile connectivity affordable for millions of lower-income citizens. His humanitarian footprint also includes significant disaster relief, such as substantial support for flood victims in Bayelsa and the Niger Delta, and multi-billion-naira contributions to federal and state health efforts during the pandemic.
