Ibom Air Starts Domestic Flights at Uyo International Terminal

Ibom Air has commenced domestic flight operations at the newly inaugurated international terminal of Victor Attah International Airport in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State. The airline announced that the shift to the new terminal for local flights took effect on Sunday.

CEO Highlights Commitment to Excellence

George Uriesi, Chief Executive Officer of Ibom Air, described the development as a defining moment for the airline and the state's aviation sector. “Today marks another defining moment in the evolution of Ibom Air and the aviation sector in Akwa Ibom State,” he said. “The commencement of our domestic operations from the new International Terminal reflects our unwavering commitment to providing our passengers with a seamless, safe and world-class travel experience.”

Operational Changes for Passengers

With this move, passengers traveling on Ibom Air's domestic routes will now depart from and arrive at the international terminal instead of the previous domestic facility. Enhanced Facilities and Capacity

The new terminal offers expanded passenger handling capacity and upgraded facilities, including modern check-in areas, boarding facilities, and enhanced security infrastructure. These improvements are designed to accommodate growing passenger volumes and improve the overall travel experience.

Supporting Regional Aviation Growth

The operational shift comes as airports across Nigeria face increasing passenger traffic and demand for better infrastructure. Mr. Uriesi noted that the facility is expected to improve operational efficiency while supporting Akwa Ibom State's aviation ambitions. The state government has invested heavily in aviation infrastructure in recent years, including airport expansion projects and support for state-owned Ibom Air.

Ibom Air's Growth Trajectory

Since its launch in 2019, Ibom Air has expanded its domestic route network and become one of Nigeria's leading carriers in terms of passenger traffic and on-time performance. The commencement of domestic operations at the international terminal is expected to boost activity at Victor Attah International Airport and enhance air transport connectivity in the South-South region.

Advice for Travelers

Passengers traveling through Uyo are advised to arrive early for their flights and familiarize themselves with the new terminal layout to ensure a smooth journey.
