The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) has reiterated that the Nigerian Oil and Gas Park Scheme (NOGaPS) located at Emeyal-1 in Ogbia Local Government Area of Bayelsa State will commence operations in the fourth quarter of 2026. Plans are underway to install a 2.5-megawatt Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) power plant to support industrial activities at the facility.
Power Plant Key to Operations
The Board stated that the power plant is a critical requirement for the park’s start-up, as it will ensure a reliable and sustainable electricity supply for manufacturing and other industrial processes. This assurance was contained in a statement issued by Dr. Obinna Ezeobi, General Manager of Corporate Communications at NCDMB, following an assessment visit to the facility by senior Board officials over the weekend.
According to Dr. Ezeobi, the inspection revealed significant progress across critical infrastructure and support systems designed to position the facility as a major industrial hub for Nigeria’s oil and gas industry.
Objectives of NOGaPS
The Nigerian Oil and Gas Park Scheme was established to deepen local content by providing an enabling environment for the manufacturing of components, equipment, and other inputs required by the oil and gas sector. The project is expected to create employment for over 2,000 people once fully operational, while stimulating economic growth in the region.
Completed Facilities
Providing details on the project’s status, Olubisi Okunola, Manager of Strategy and Transformation Projects at NCDMB, listed several completed facilities within the park. These include manufacturing shop floors, a fully functional water treatment plant, accommodation units, modern classrooms, an amphitheatre, and residential apartments for trainers, facilitators, and visiting guests.
“Environmental maintenance activities are ongoing, with landscaping and routine facility upkeep being carried out across the park to preserve existing infrastructure and maintain operational readiness,” Okunola stated. He added that ongoing works are focused on ensuring all supporting infrastructure and utilities required for seamless operations are fully in place before the park’s planned operational date.
