Chief Executive Officer of E-Terra Technologies Limited, Ifeanyi Ochonogor, has called on Nigerians to be friends of the environment by reducing pollution and promoting responsible waste management. This appeal was made in commemoration of this year’s World Environment Day (WED), a global platform dedicated to encouraging awareness and action for environmental protection.
Call for Collective Action
Ochonogor emphasized the need for collective efforts, stating, “Let us work together to build cleaner communities, reduce pollution, promote responsible waste management, and create a sustainable future for generations to come.” He highlighted environmental challenges such as improper waste disposal, pollution, flooding, deforestation, and climate change, which continue to threaten health, livelihoods, and economic development.
“These challenges cannot be left to government alone; they require the collective efforts of citizens, businesses, communities, and institutions,” Ochonogor added.
2026 Theme: Climate Action
Noting the 2026 theme of World Environment Day, which focuses on Climate Action, Ochonogor remarked, “The future of our planet depends on the choices we make today. Environmental sustainability is not the responsibility of a few; it is the collective duty of all.” He urged citizens, stakeholders, regulators, and industry captains to embrace responsible environmental practices.
“As we commemorate World Environment Day, together, through deliberate action and shared commitment, we can build a cleaner, healthier, and safer Nigeria for present and future generations,” he stated.
Personal Responsibility and Corporate Commitment
Ochonogor explained that at E-Terra Technologies Ltd, the belief is that environmental sustainability begins with personal responsibility. “Every Nigerian has a role to play in protecting our environment by disposing of waste responsibly, embracing recycling, conserving resources, and supporting environmentally friendly practices,” he said.
He concluded, “A cleaner environment is not only beneficial to public health but is also essential for economic growth, social well-being, and national development. When we protect our environment, we protect our future.”
