Oyo Rolls Out N120m Food Support Scheme for Workers

The Oyo State Government has initiated a subsidized food distribution program for civil servants to alleviate financial burdens ahead of the Eid-el-Kabir celebration. The scheme, managed by the Agricultural Credit Corporation of Oyo State (ACCOS), provides rice, vegetable oil, and rams at reduced prices, with payments spread over three months.

Program Launch and Funding

During the flag-off event in Ibadan, ACCOS Chairman Sheikh Akeugberu Akeugbagold, represented by Coordinating Head Tunde Oladejo, announced that the state government allocated over N120 million for the procurement of commodities. He emphasized that the initiative aims to cushion the impact of rising living costs and enable workers to celebrate the festive season without excessive financial strain.

Repayment and Worker Welfare

Beneficiaries will begin repayment deductions from their July 2026 salaries. The chairman noted that this intervention reflects Governor Seyi Makinde's continued focus on improving worker welfare and expanding access to affordable food during festive periods.
