Roshe Agro Targets Nigeria's Fish Supply Gap with Premium Farmed Fish
Roshe Agro Aims to Bridge Nigeria's Fish Supply Gap

As food service businesses continue to grapple with a major industry gap—the disconnect between fish supply and consumer expectations—a farm-to-market fish farming firm, Roshe Agro, has pledged to continue offering not just fish, but graded, fresh, farmed, and traceable products delivered with confidence. This commitment was made during the Food x Culture Workshop in Lagos, which brought together influential voices from the hospitality, food service, agriculture, and culture sectors. The event explored the evolving relationship between farmed fish sourcing and changing consumer expectations in Nigeria, positioning fresh, locally farmed seafood as a critical lever for business growth and national food security.

Keynote Address Highlights Aquaculture's Role

In her keynote address, the Lagos State Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Systems, Ms. Abisola Olusanya, represented by the Permanent Secretary, Mr. Emmanuel Audu, underscored the increasing importance of aquaculture in strengthening food security, improving nutrition, and driving economic growth within the state. She reinforced the alignment between public sector priorities and private sector innovation in building a more sustainable, traceable, and quality-driven food ecosystem.

Workshop Themes and Discussions

The workshop highlighted the need for food service businesses to intentionally create value across their entire chain, from sourcing to final customer experience. This theme was explored through discussions led by Senior Partner (Real Sector) at Andersen Consulting, Mrs. Olarinmoye Abayomi, and Founder of HealthKraft Africa, Dr. Olawale Ogunlana. They focused on kitchen optimization, menu engineering, customer experience, and the growing role of clean, healthy, and traceable farmed protein in shaping premium dining offerings.

Roshe Agro's Integrated Approach

The Founder of Roshe Agro, Dada 'Foluso, used the platform to spotlight the company's vertically integrated approach to aquaculture. Since 2022, Roshe Agro has been farming tilapia and catfish in the natural waters of the Lagos Lagoon in Epe, backed by a strong commitment to quality, traceability, and consistency. The company leverages the aquaSense+ digital farm management ecosystem app to ensure reliable production, strong food safety standards, and a short, transparent supply chain that delivers quality from farm to table.

Collaboration and Value Creation

Beyond inspiration and learning, the organizers said the workshop was designed as a gateway to deeper collaboration and long-term value creation within the Hospitality, Restaurant, and Catering (HORECA) ecosystem. Participants left with practical menu ideas, fresh fish samples to test in their kitchens, and a renewed understanding of how sourcing decisions directly influence brand perception, customer satisfaction, and profitability.

Future Expansion and Commitment

As Roshe Agro continues to expand its footprint through cage-culture farming and cold-chain distribution, 'Foluso said the firm remains committed to supporting Nigeria's hospitality industry with premium, farmed fresh fish that meets high standards of quality, consistency, and sustainability.
