A support group mobilizing for the re-election of President Bola Tinubu, the Sunshine Grassroots Network (SGN), has distributed agricultural inputs to no fewer than 1,000 farmers across the three senatorial districts of Ondo State.
The group, sponsored by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, concluded the statewide rollout of the inputs tagged Tinubu Farmers’ Support (TFS). It emphasized that the initiative was designed to support the food security program of the federal government.
The intervention involved the distribution of agricultural inputs such as sprayers and rain boots to farmers in rural communities across the state’s northern, central, and southern senatorial districts.
According to the Director General of SGN, Dayo Awude, the intervention served as a follow-up to SGN’s earlier interventions, which included the distribution of free fuel to Okada and Marwa operators under the Tinubu Free Fuel (TFF) program.
Awude also disclosed that the group had embarked on the empowerment of numerous widows across the state through the BTO Widows’ Mite initiative as well as the distribution of aprons for market women across selected markets in the state.
While stating that the initiative reflects Tunji-Ojo’s commitment to grassroots development and support for local farmers, Awude described the efforts as necessary as part of moves to complement the ongoing reforms of the Tinubu-led administration.
The Director-General, who maintained that the initiative will in no small measure strengthen food production and support rural livelihoods across the country, encouraged continued support for the administration of Tinubu.
He noted that ongoing reforms in key sectors, as well as the massive road construction projects currently underway in the state, including the expansion of the Akure-Ore Road, the dualization of the Akure-Ado-Ekiti Road, the dualization of the Ilesha-Akure-Benin Road, and the Lagos-Calabar Highway passing through the state’s coastline, require the sustained backing of Mr. President.
Meanwhile, the beneficiaries of the TFS program, who lauded the initiative, commended the impact on their farming activities and livelihoods.
The farmers also described the intervention as timely and beneficial, noting that the tools provided ease farm operations, reduce manual stress, and improve overall productivity.
