Tinubu Approves ₦3.9 Trillion for 27 Road Projects

President Bola Tinubu has approved 27 major road projects valued at over ₦3.9 trillion across 15 states, according to Minister of Works David Umahi. The announcement followed the Federal Executive Council meeting on Monday, June 29, 2026, at the State House in Abuja. The initiative aims to enhance connectivity and stimulate economic development nationwide.

Scope of the Road Projects

The projects span Adamawa, Benue, Cross River, Ebonyi, Ekiti, Kogi, Kwara, Lagos, Niger, Ondo, Osun, Oyo, Plateau, Taraba, and Yobe states. Key investments include the Niger State project worth ₦1.8 trillion for re-awarding the 409km dual carriageway under a tax credit scheme to Aliko Dangote, and the Ilorin-Ogbomoso Road dualisation at ₦276 billion.

Other major allocations: Iseyin-Eruwa-Agbesi Road reconstruction (₦265 billion) in Oyo and Kwara; Ijaye-FGC-Ilorin Road dualisation with spur (₦217 billion); Abakaliki-Afikpo Road reconstruction (₦116 billion) in Ebonyi; Ogbomoso-Oko-Illupu Road (₦110 billion) in Oyo and Osun; and Ilorin-Omorin-Ebe-Kabba-Obajana Road rehabilitation (₦104 billion) in Kwara and Kogi.

Additional projects include Idi-Araba-Ayede-Olodo Road construction (₦98 billion) in Oyo; Baban-Lamba-Sharan Road phase 2 rehabilitation (₦92 billion) in Plateau; Enugu-Abakaliki Road including a flyover (₦86 billion); Adikpo-Ajayi-Tese-Akpa-Otukpo Road (₦86 billion) in Benue and Cross River; Jimeta-Mayo Belwa Road (₦83 billion) in Adamawa; Igbeti Road rehabilitation (₦82 billion) in Oyo; Igbeti-Soro-Kishi Road construction (₦74 billion) in Oyo; Dabban-Makina Road construction (₦71 billion) in Niger; Tungo-Karamti Road with five bridges (₦62.99 billion) between Adamawa and Taraba; Yola-Hong-Mubi Road phase 2 rehabilitation (₦58 billion); Amasiri–Okporojo Road reconstruction (₦46 billion); Ikere-Ekiti-Ijare Road construction (₦34 billion) in Ekiti and Ondo; Trans-Sahara Road flyover (₦26 billion); Kabba-Ifaki-Ado Ekiti Road rehabilitation (₦24.7 billion) in Kogi and Ekiti; Oko-Olowo Junction flyover (₦21 billion) in Kwara; Pacific Road linking Igbe Laara to Ikorodu (₦15.7 billion) in Lagos; Badeku-Jaiye Road construction (₦15.5 billion) in Oyo; Yola-Fufore-Gurin Road phase 2 (₦15.246 billion) in Adamawa; and Gashua Road augmentation (₦15 billion) in Yobe.

Lagos-Ibadan Expressway Concession Approved

The Federal Government also approved the full business case for the operation and maintenance concession of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway. Reconstruction of failed sections on the Ibadan axis will now use concrete for enhanced durability and safer travel.

Abuja-Kaduna-Kano Highway Progress

Minister Umahi confirmed that the first 118km section of the Abuja-Kaduna-Kano Highway, valued at ₦137 billion, has been completed. This marks a significant milestone in the broader infrastructure push.

The massive investment signals a renewed effort to modernise Nigeria's road network, improve inter-state connectivity, and boost economic growth across multiple regions.
