President Tinubu Set to Inaugurate Major Infrastructure Projects in Lagos
Lagos State Government has announced that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will visit the state on April 8 and 9, 2026, to commission several key projects, with assurances of minimal disruptions to daily activities. The state's Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, emphasized during a media briefing that roads will not be haphazardly blocked for the President's movements, ensuring easy movement for residents.
Coordinated Efforts for a Seamless Visit
Omotoso stated that the government is working closely with federal and state agencies to ensure the visit is seamless, secure, and befitting. He highlighted that security, logistics, and traffic management plans are being carefully coordinated to minimize disruptions while ensuring safety and comfort for all participants. Residents are urged to cooperate with authorities by adhering to traffic advisories and security guidelines that will be communicated in due course.
"Lagos remains the commercial nerve centre of Nigeria and a hub of innovation, enterprise, and resilience," Omotoso said, underscoring the importance of the event for the state's development.
Key Projects for Commissioning
The projects slated for commissioning reflect the administration's strategic investments in critical sectors such as transportation, infrastructure development, education, and public sector development. Among the highlights is the Ojota-Opebi Link Bridge, which is expected to significantly ease traffic congestion across the metropolis.
Other projects include:
- The Lagos State Geographic Information Service Building, designed to transform land records and enhance administrative functions.
- A multi-agency complex named after President Tinubu.
- The newly completed Tolu Schools Complex in Ajegunle, comprising 36 public schools on 11.73 hectares of land.
- A mid-level agro-produce hub in Abijo, Ibeju-Lekki, along the Lekki-Epe Expressway.
Omotoso detailed that the Tolu Schools Complex is an all-inclusive facility with two newly constructed buildings for People Living with Disabilities, featuring vertical lift facilities and a vocational school offering skills in fashion designing, tailoring, craftsmanship, masonry, and plumbing.
