As Nigeria prepares to commemorate World Environment Day, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Jawura Environmental Services, Tosin Rowland-Osibanjo, has called on Nigerians to embrace collaboration, innovation, and sustained action in addressing environmental challenges. He emphasized that building a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable future requires collective effort from all sectors of society.
Rowland-Osibanjo made the appeal during a media parley in Lagos, held ahead of the 2026 World Environment Day and the inaugural edition of The Green Print 2.0, the company's flagship environmental sustainability initiative. He stressed that environmental sustainability can only be achieved when individuals, communities, businesses, and government institutions work together to tackle pressing issues such as poor waste management, pollution, and climate change.
“As we celebrate World Environment Day, let us remember that building a cleaner, greener and more sustainable future requires collaboration, innovation and consistent action from all of us,” he said.
The Green Print 2.0 Initiative
Rowland-Osibanjo explained that The Green Print 2.0 is a three-day campaign designed to educate, engage, and inspire citizens, particularly young people. Activities planned for the program include an environmental awareness roadshow across key commercial centers in Ikeja, the commissioning of eco-huts constructed from recycled plastic bottles in selected schools, tree-planting exercises, and an Environmental Fair. The fair will feature expert discussions, recycling innovations, exhibitions, and youth-focused conversations on climate action.
“We are particularly passionate about empowering young people who are critical drivers of sustainable change. Through this initiative, we hope to equip them with the knowledge and opportunities needed to contribute meaningfully to environmental protection,” he stated.
Corporate Support and Partnerships
The Jawura boss commended the support of corporate partners and stakeholders whose contributions have made the initiative possible. He gave special recognition to Union Bank, the principal sponsor, describing the bank’s commitment to environmental responsibility and community development as a demonstration of corporate leadership that can drive lasting impact. He also appreciated Nigerian Breweries for its continued support, while acknowledging organizations participating in the Environmental Fair, including Wecyclers, EcoSisters, and the Waste Museum, for their contributions to sustainable waste management and environmental advocacy.
Rowland-Osibanjo expressed optimism that the initiative would inspire greater environmental consciousness and practical actions toward a healthier and more sustainable Nigeria.
