The Australian government has released official weekly earnings figures for engineering professionals across more than 10 specialisations, revealing a significant pay gap between the highest- and lowest-paid positions. The data, published on the Jobs and Skills Australia website, shows engineering managers earning $3,519 per week (N4,747,263.42), while engineering production workers receive the lowest weekly pay at $1,656 (N2,234,242.08).

Highest-Paid Engineering Roles in Australia

According to the data, engineering managers top the earnings scale, followed closely by electrical engineering draftspersons and technicians, who earn $2,854 per week (N3,851,559.72). Chemical and materials engineers receive $2,849 weekly (N3,844,813.82), and electronics engineers earn $2,762 per week (N3,727,035.16). Electrical engineers take home $2,553 weekly (N3,444,456.54), while civil engineering professionals earn $2,217 (N2,991,831.06).

Lower-Paid Engineering Roles and Data Accessibility

At the lower end of the scale, IT support and test engineers earn $2,115 per week (N2,853,515.70). Aircraft maintenance engineers receive $1,980 weekly (N2,671,376.40), and civil engineering draftspersons and technicians take home $1,730 (N2,334,081.40). Engineering production workers record the lowest weekly pay at $1,656 (N2,234,242.08).

The government noted that the figures released cover only a portion of the engineering-related occupations tracked. A broader range of roles and their corresponding earnings data is available through the official Jobs and Skills Australia occupations portal, where both foreigners and citizens can search and filter by occupation title.
