CAP PLC Celebrates Second Anniversary of Women's Empowerment Initiative with Nationwide Outreach

Chemical and Allied Products (CAP) PLC, a leading paints and coatings company, has proudly commemorated the second anniversary of its Women's Inclusive Network for Growth and Success (WINGS). This significant milestone was marked with a comprehensive nationwide outreach initiative dedicated to supporting vulnerable women and communities across various regions of Nigeria.

Nationwide Community Engagement Activities

The anniversary celebrations, which coincided with global Women's Month observances, featured a series of impactful activities across multiple locations. CAP PLC organized visits to Noble Homes Orphanage in Kubwa, located within the Federal Capital Territory, and Eghosa Orphanage Home in Benin, Edo State. Additionally, the company extended its outreach to communities in Gaya and Madobi Local Government Areas of Kano State.

Female employees from CAP PLC volunteered their time and resources at these locations, delivering essential supplies including food and clothing items. They engaged meaningfully with women and children in the communities, organizing practical workshops focused on hygiene, personal care, and health and wellbeing practices specifically tailored for women and girls.

Leadership Perspectives on Inclusion and Impact

Bolarin Okunowo, Managing Director of CAP PLC and Chairperson of WINGS, emphasized the initiative's foundational philosophy. "WINGS reflects our belief that inclusive organizations are better positioned to create meaningful impact both within the workplace and in the communities they serve," Okunowo stated. "The initiative was created to strengthen leadership opportunities for women within CAP and across our communities."

Okunowo highlighted the particular importance of such programs in manufacturing industries where women remain underrepresented in leadership positions. "Mentorship and access to strong professional networks can make a significant difference in these sectors," she explained. "Over the past two years, WINGS has evolved into a structured programme focused on mentorship, leadership development, and community outreach, and we remain committed to expanding its reach and impact in the years ahead."

Governance Transition and Program Evolution

The week-long anniversary activities culminated with a commemorative event in Lagos, bringing together employees and external partners to reflect on the initiative's progress and reaffirm CAP PLC's commitment to women's empowerment. The anniversary also marked a governance milestone as Aramide Nwokediuko, CAP's Company Secretary & Head of Corporate Services and founding President of WINGS, completed her tenure.

Leadership responsibilities were formally handed over to Ijeoma Barnaby-Nsikak, Regional Sales Manager (Lagos 1), and Adefolahan Ojo, Regional Sales Manager (North Central 1), who will serve as Co-Presidents of WINGS. This leadership structure reflects the program's emphasis on shared leadership, collaboration, and expanding opportunities for women across the organization.

Program Impact and Future Expansion Plans

Since its launch two years ago, WINGS has reached over six communities across Nigeria, supporting women and children through a combination of mentorship, health education, and community outreach initiatives. The program has successfully mobilized employee volunteers nationwide while empowering CAP PLC's female employees through targeted leadership development programs, skills training workshops, and structured mentorship pathways designed to accelerate career growth and foster a culture of inclusion within the organization.

As WINGS enters its third year, CAP PLC has announced plans to expand its mentorship network, strengthen community engagement efforts, and deepen programs specifically designed to support women's economic and social advancement across Nigeria. The company remains dedicated to creating sustainable impact through this corporate social responsibility initiative that bridges workplace inclusion with community development.
