Akwa Ibom's Internally Generated Revenue Skyrockets to N7 Billion Monthly Following TSA Implementation
Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State has publicly expressed his profound satisfaction with the remarkable performance of the newly implemented Treasury Single Account policy. In a significant financial development, the state's Internally Generated Revenue has experienced an extraordinary surge, climbing from a monthly average of N2 billion to an impressive N7 billion within just three months of the policy's enforcement.
Governor Eno Announces Revenue Milestone at Monthly Prayer Service
Speaking during the regular Government House Monthly Prayer Service held at the Latter House Chapel, Governor Eno provided detailed insights into this financial breakthrough. He revealed that the Treasury Single Account policy, which officially commenced on January 1, 2026, has fundamentally transformed revenue collection processes across all state ministries, departments, and agencies.
The TSA policy mandates that every government entity must remit all collected revenues into a single, centralized account, creating unprecedented transparency and accountability in financial management. This structural change has directly contributed to the dramatic increase in revenue collection efficiency and completeness.
Pathway to Financial Self-Sufficiency and Salary Sustainability
Governor Eno reaffirmed his administration's unwavering commitment to elevating Akwa Ibom State's Internally Generated Revenue to a level of financial sustainability that would enable the state government to independently cover worker salaries without external dependencies. "We are determined to make our state truly self-sustaining and economically sufficient," the governor declared with conviction.
He elaborated further on this vision, stating, "Within the next few years, we aim to raise our IGR to a point where it can comfortably cover at least our salary obligations. The results from our Treasury Single Account implementation, which began just months ago, are indeed heartening. Our monthly IGR has experienced a substantial increase from N2 billion to N7 billion, demonstrating the effectiveness of our financial reforms."
Strict Compliance and Warning Against Financial Sabotage
The governor issued a firm directive to all ministries, departments, agencies, and relevant financial stakeholders, urging strict adherence to the established rules and standards governing the Treasury Single Account system. He emphasized that compliance is essential for maximizing revenue generation potential and warned that any acts of compromise, negligence, or deliberate sabotage would face appropriate disciplinary and legal consequences.
Development Framework Guided by ARISE Agenda and Public Consultation
Governor Eno clarified that his administration's development initiatives are systematically guided by the comprehensive ARISE Agenda, which serves as the state's economic blueprint. This framework is further informed by detailed needs assessment documents presented by communities and stakeholders across Akwa Ibom's various local government areas.
"I want to provide firm assurance to all Akwa Ibom citizens that we remain steadfastly committed to the development blueprint we presented during our campaign," Governor Eno affirmed. "Our administration is working tirelessly and methodically to ensure we fulfill the goals embedded within the people's mandate through sequential project execution and program implementation."
The governor concluded by emphasizing that sustainable development requires deliberate, structured effort rather than automatic progression, highlighting his administration's focus on transformative projects that will create lasting benefits for Akwa Ibom State and its residents.
