The Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) has announced the distribution of a total sum of N2.257 trillion, representing April 2026 Federation Account revenue, to the Federal Government, states, and local government councils.
Revenue Breakdown
The revenue, typically shared in the month following its accrual, was approved at the FAAC meeting held in May 2026 in Abuja, though the communiqué was released on Monday, June 15, 2026. According to the communiqué, the total distributable revenue of N2.257 trillion comprised N1.260 trillion in statutory revenue, N747.088 billion from Value Added Tax (VAT), and N250 billion as augmentation.
FAAC stated that total gross revenue for April stood at N3.184 trillion. From this, N113.756 billion was deducted as cost of collection, while N813.839 billion was recorded as transfers, refunds, and savings.
Revenue Increases
The communiqué further revealed that gross statutory revenue of N2.378 trillion was received in April 2026, representing an increase of N678.224 billion compared to the N1.699 trillion recorded in March. VAT revenue also rose to N806.617 billion in April, up from N664.425 billion in the previous month, reflecting an increase of N142.192 billion.
Distribution to Tiers of Government
From the N2.257 trillion distributable revenue, the Federal Government received N787.351 billion, states received N772.360 billion, and local government councils got N540.152 billion. A total of N157.254 billion, representing 13 per cent derivation revenue from mineral earnings, was shared among benefiting states.
From the N1.260 trillion statutory revenue, the Federal Government received N580.942 billion, states received N294.661 billion, while local governments got N227.172 billion, with N157.254 billion again allocated as derivation.
From the N747.088 billion VAT pool, the Federal Government received N74.709 billion, states received N410.898 billion, and local governments received N261.481 billion.
From the N250 billion augmentation, the Federal Government received N131.700 billion, the states N66.800 billion, and local governments N51.500 billion.
Revenue Streams Performance
FAAC also noted that several revenue streams recorded increases in April, including Companies Income Tax (CIT), Capital Gains Tax (CGT), Stamp Duty, Import Duty, Oil and Gas Royalties, and VAT. However, Petroleum Profit Tax (PPT), Hydrocarbon Tax, Excise Duty, and CET levies recorded declines.
