Infrastructure and technology firm Langovest Limited has issued a compelling call for urgent policy reforms aimed at boosting private sector investment in critical infrastructure projects across Nigeria. During the deployment of its innovative AquaPoint water filtration system at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), David Amafina, the Business Development Lead at Langovest Limited, highlighted the pressing need for policy adjustments. He explained that current restrictions and tax-related obligations create significant barriers for private firms seeking to deploy infrastructure projects in Lagos and other regions of the country.
Amafina noted that while numerous organizations are actively working to improve access to safe drinking water, affordability and accessibility remain major hurdles for the average Nigerian citizen. He stressed that government support through more flexible regulatory frameworks and favorable tax considerations would empower private organizations to expand their innovative solutions to underserved communities effectively.
Innovative Solutions for Water Access
The AquaPoint system, as described by Amafina, is a modular water purification infrastructure designed to provide clean drinking water without the necessity for bottling. This technology is specifically intended to enhance last-mile access to potable water, addressing a critical need in many Nigerian communities.
This intervention comes at a time when access to safe drinking water is a growing concern in Nigeria. Estimates indicate that approximately 170 million Nigerians lack access to potable water, underscoring the urgency of such initiatives.
Strategic Rollout and Future Plans
Adefunke Olatoke, the Legal and Compliance Officer of Langovest Limited, provided insights into the company's broader strategy. She revealed that the deployment at LASUTH marks the initial phase of a comprehensive rollout plan across Lagos State. The system is connected to the hospital's water source and serves as a demonstration of scalable water infrastructure in public facilities.
"We are starting with this, but it doesn't end here. It goes into every 500 meters. That is the plan," Olatoke stated. She further disclosed that the company aims to achieve about 2,500 installations across Lagos by 2030. Additionally, residential and personal-use models are currently in development, indicating a long-term commitment to addressing water scarcity issues.

On behalf of LASUTH, Chief Medical Director Adetokunbo Fabamwo expressed gratitude for the donation. He commended Langovest Limited for its support, noting that the installation will significantly improve access to clean water within the facility. This reliable source of clean water will benefit both staff and visitors, enhancing overall hospital operations and patient care.
